Google Tasks export: questions and answers

Can you export Google Tasks?

Not from the Google Tasks app itself. Google only offers Google Takeout, which gives you a JSON file that spreadsheets can't open. This free tool reads your lists through the official Google Tasks API and saves them as CSV, Excel, JSON or Markdown.

How do I get Google Tasks into Google Sheets?

Connect your account, pick your lists and click Copy for Google Sheets. Then open a new sheet and paste. Each task becomes a row with its list, subtask, notes, due date, status and completion date, ready to sort and filter as a task sheet.

How do I print my Google Tasks?

Load your tasks, then click Print. You get a clean checklist grouped by list, with checkboxes, due dates and notes, and without the rest of the page. Choose Save as PDF in the print window to keep a PDF copy.

Is my data safe?

Yes. The tool asks Google for read-only access, runs entirely in your browser and never sends your tasks to TasksBoard servers. The access token lives in memory and is gone when you close the tab. You can also skip sign-in and convert a Takeout file instead.

Are subtasks, notes and completed tasks included?

Yes. Subtasks are listed under their parent task in a separate Subtask column, notes and due dates are kept, and completed tasks are included with their completion date unless you turn them off.

Can I import the exported file back into Google Tasks?

Yes. The CSV and Excel files use the same columns as our free Import to Google Tasks tool, so you can edit them in a spreadsheet and import them back, or move your lists to another Google account.

Your tasks deserve more than a spreadsheet

TasksBoard shows all your Google Tasks lists side by side on a Kanban board, with sharing, labels and due dates. It syncs both ways with Google Tasks.
