Import tasks into Google Tasks from CSV, Excel or Google Sheets

Google Tasks has no import button. Upload a spreadsheet or paste your list, check the preview, and add hundreds of tasks with subtasks, notes and due dates in one go. Free, no sign-up.

Your file is read in this page and sent only to Google Tasks. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on our servers.

Importing into Google Tasks: questions and answers

Can I import a CSV file into Google Tasks?

Google Tasks itself has no import option, but this free tool does it for you. Upload the CSV, check the preview and click Import. Each row becomes a task, and Subtask, Notes, Due date, Completed and List columns come along.

How do I import tasks from Google Sheets?

Select the cells in your sheet, including the header row, copy them, and paste them into the Paste tab. You can also download the sheet as .xlsx or .csv and upload the file. Columns named Task, Notes, Due date and so on are matched automatically.

How do I create subtasks?

Put the parent task in the Task column and leave it empty on the following rows, with the subtask titles in a Subtask column. Without a Subtask column, indent a title with spaces or start it with ↳ to make it a subtask of the task above. Google Tasks supports one level of subtasks.

Which date formats work?

2026-10-12, 12.10.2026, 10/12/2026 and Oct 12, 2026 all work. Dates like 03/04/2026 follow your browser's language: month first in US English, day first elsewhere. Google Tasks stores dates only, so times are dropped.

Is it safe? Do you store my tasks?

Your file is read inside this page and the tasks go straight from your browser to the Google Tasks API. Nothing is uploaded to TasksBoard, and the access token disappears when you close the tab.

How many tasks can I import at once?

Up to 2,000 tasks per run. Google adds tasks one at a time, so a large import takes a few minutes; keep the tab open until the progress bar finishes. For more, split the file and import it in parts.

Plan it on a board, not in a spreadsheet

TasksBoard turns your Google Tasks lists into a full-screen Kanban board with sharing, labels and due dates, and it imports whole spreadsheets with one click.
